Alix Bastien

Alix Bastien joined the Dining team in July 2025. Alix began his hospitality career as a busser at a local farm-to-table restaurant in Philadelphia, where he discovered a passion for ethical food sourcing, traditional cooking styles, and even mushroom foraging. Over the years, he built his skills at Talula’s Garden, the Michelin-starred Torrisi in Soho, and Ludlow House, where he also gained experience in event management. Most recently, he managed a Japanese restaurant, balancing fine dining Omakase-style service with corporate catering.

Alix is excited to bring his background and creativity to Columbia, with hopes of collaborating with the Dining team to introduce students to new dishes. Originally from Philadelphia, he has a love for island cuisine, especially Jamaican jerk chicken and Trinidadian chickpea doubles with tamarind sauce. Outside of work, he enjoys walking around the city with his film camera, traveling, hiking, and catching live music.
